Every day presents new opportunities to reuse, repurpose and create, and it’s the frugal person who recognizes those opportunities, seizes them and turns them into savings

Do Other Fiscal Conservatives Agree With Me On This?

I truly beleive in terms of not beleiving in handouts for the able-bodied, the VAST majority of Americans are conservative.

The reason we lose elections is because we have too many special-interest groups that hold their block-vote hostage to the Republican Party, that force any Republican to have to stand for things that they often don't care about at all, but have to PRETEND like they care to get the nomination, and those stances then costs the candidate in the general election. There's 3 things in particular I think if conservative candidates eased up on, they'd win OVERWHELMINGLY in this country...

#1- Support gay civil unions, and leave it up to the states regarding marriage.

#2- Make it clear to women that you'd never support a constitutional amendment and/or a supreme
court nominee, that won't AT LEAST protect abortion rights in the case of rape, incest,
pregnancy of minors, or corroborated life-threatenig health of the mother.

#3- Don't embrace anti-intellectualism. A conservative candidate shouldn't have to watch Nascar, kill every animal in the forest, reduce foreign policy to gradeschool complexity like "good" and "evil", and listen to exclusively country/western, to be considered a viable candidate.

The PRIMARY tenets of conservatism- fiscal frugality, low taxes, strong national defense, and embrace of personal freedoms and responsibilities- is MUDDLED to Americans when you try to throw in caveats like "well except for gays, they can't marry" "oh and you can by machine guns, but big brother is gonna make sure you don't smoke weed", "oh and if you go bankrupt little man, tough...but if you're a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, we'll bail out with billions"....conservatives need A CONSISTENT MESSAGE REGARDING BEING THE PARTY OF PERSONAL FREEDOM AND INDEPENDENCE.

If they ran as the party that CONSISTENTLY projected "do whatever you want as long as you're not hurting someone else, the only thing we'll take your money for is a little bit to give us a military nobody wants to mess with, and the rest is up to you"....THAT party? Would win every election is a landslide.

You could say the same thing for the other side. They have their foibles, too.

You are suggesting that Republicans become un-Republican.
