The closest groups I have found tend to be conservative Catholic groups, but because of their religion, they differ greatly from me in terms of social issues and are often anti-intellectual ("don't think, just do what the priest says"). They are very nice, but are there any secular people out there who believe in individual liberty, critical thinking, modesty in dress, courtesy and civility in manners, and frugal housekeeping?

I too have been trying to find some groups that espouse some of the beliefs you talked of. It's hard! I think that mostly because the women who believe in simplicity, and non-conformity are probably paring down on their internet communications. Hence, there aren't many out there.

But, there has been a blog that I've been following for a few months now called "On a Quest for Plain Living." If you don't like her blog, she has links to others.
